This breed is famous for its cute temperament and exquisite appearance. The dog has fragile bones, and hence it is not recommended for young children. No wonder, responsible breeders always ask their potential buyers if there are children in the house and may refuse to sell a puppy unless the children are well behaved. These dogs must be taught not to struggle out of your arms, because they may fall down and get a fatal injury. Puppies and dogs with unclosed moleras are extremely exposed to head traumas.

There exist several non-profit organizations aimed at helping stray and homeless purebred dogs find new loving homes. Such organizations provide necessary medical care for all their dogs, vaccinate, check and spay or neuter them to control the growing pet overpopulation. Prior to adoption all dogs are kept in foster families that evaluate the dog’s temperament and provide at least basic socialization and training, especially if it has been abused and neglected.
